I know a lot of developers wonder how some games and apps seem guaranteed to reach the top slots once they come out. 1) Choose your provider- There are 2 types of services incent installs and organic installs. Incent installs is when a user downloads your game or app to win whatever prize is shown for them to win. Organic installs is when a user click on an AD for your game or app on thier own without any prize.
Incent installs rates- between 8 cents to 12 cents per install.
Organic installs rates- between 20 cents to dollar per install.

You will need 2,500-3,000 installs to reach top 25 in main category. Top reach the top 1-10 you will need total of 4,000-10,000 installs. So now you see why its important to reach the top of the top new free, so you get the organic installs when your money is running out to go higher in the charts.
Now how to monetize your games and apps to recoup your investment.

2) Make your game or app content heavy- for example if you have a gardening app don't just have 3 types of flowers to grow. Include at least 10-20 flowers plus update it so users keep the app on the device. If its a game, don't just make a flappybird game. Make one with different characters to earn or multiple level skins so that users keep the game on thier device.
3) Make an update and add content once a week , not just bug fix updates. Users will keep games and apps on their device even if its not their favorite just cause they feel like they are getting free stuff. Users like free stuff.
